‘This is TAEKWON-DO’ is an instructional DVD series created by Media Insight and First Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha. It features a combination of interactive 3D and HD video that revolutionises martial arts learning. In this, the first part of the making of ‘This is TAEKWON-DO’, we interview Masters Sean Cattanach and Andrew Rhee talking about their experiences during the motion capture element of the project. Their movements were recorded digitally using a gyroscopic motion capture suit, technology that has been used successfully in the movie industry. What is unique about this project is that students will be able to analyse the movements in an interactive viewer which unlocks the true power of 3D. The ability to rotate in infinite directions, zoom in, fast forward and rewind, and a host of other functions commonly seen in modern computer games.
